Got questions?

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between shared and private charter?
On a shared sailing trip, you book one or more seats — other passengers join the same boat. Perfect for solo travellers or couples who want to meet new people. A private charter means your group books the entire boat for yourselves.
Do I need a sailing license?
No license is needed for shared trips or private crewed charters — the skipper handles everything. For bareboat charters, you'll need a valid sailing license (at least an ICC or national equivalent).
How are payments handled?
You pay through SaltWave at the time of booking. Funds are held securely by Stripe and released to the provider 48 hours after departure. If a trip is cancelled by the provider, you receive a full refund.
What if I need to cancel?
Full refund up to 30 days before departure. 50% refund between 30 and 14 days. No refund within 14 days of departure. Each listing may have its own policy — always check before booking.
Is food included?
It depends on the trip. Most shared sailings provision together — the skipper organises shopping and everyone contributes. This is always stated clearly in the listing.
How does the charter agreement work?
After booking confirmation, SaltWave generates a digital charter contract compliant with Greek maritime law n.4926/2022. All passengers receive a copy and sign digitally before departure.
